Okay, so my new favorite show is Cooking School Stories. On Thursday night my father, younger sister, and I sat down to watch it on Food Network. My sister had called previously to tell me to watch this. And I was glad I did.
So the show follows around someone every week who is attending Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, otherwise known as my dream college. The student who was the subject of this week’s episode was Ward Bradshaw. He’s from the south, wants to own his own restaurant, and is a little too sure of himself, otherwise known as the male reincarnation of me. Haha.
And the show was pretty entertaining, and I’m wondering when it’s going to come out on DVD, that way I can watch it over and over again, and then when I get to college and meet my professors, I can say, “Hey, I saw you on TV!” Good times.
In other cooking news, I helped out at The Viking today, and they were doing a demonstration class on soups. Joan, the chef, made the chilled pear soup that was made in chicken broth. I know you’re thinking gross, but it was surprisingly good, as was the roasted vegetables, eggplant, and pepper soup, which was my favorite of the two. And I even got to “teach” the class about the book that Joan got all the recipees from. By the middle of the class, everyone knew my name. “Thanks, Emma!” “Could I have another sample of that, Emma?” “I think it’s great you’re doing this internship and going after what you want, Emma.” Oh, and my favorite was “Thanks, sweetie. I appreciate it.” (after I handed out the samples of the pear soup). So I think I moved up another step today on the “being the next Emeril” ladder.
Oh, and because I had to make this post wicked long, I’m totally loving Spencer Day. He was on Star Search this week. The judges totally shafted him because he’s white and plays great piano, so they could give the higher scores to the African-American girls who held their notes out a little too long if you ask me. So I got on the internet and voted for him as many times as I could… and he won! Yay!
