Word to Mighty Ducks

So today I found out that all the Mighty Ducks movies are available in a special 3-pack DVD box set. Went right up on my wishlist! I know, I know. They’re cheesy movies, but Joshua Jackson is in them, and he was adorable when he was younger. Plus I like hockey. Well, I actually don’t really feel the need to justify this to anyone, so I will stop making excuses. Speaking of wishlists, feel free to visit mine and buy me something, seeing as my birthday really far off. Today has been slow. I bowled. I went for a walk. I watched some Sports Night. I got on the computer. And I felt I was doing nothing the entire time, which is really what weekends are all about.

Word to jaunty berets

This new layout is kind of an inside joke with my family. Mostly with my father. So you probably don’t get it, but you’re not really supposed to. There’s a lot more content with this layout. Check out “about emma” and “random junk” for the new stuff. I’ve even added some movie reviews, because a few of you were asking about all the movies that I saw. I will add more to that page when I finish watching the other movies. I still have Empire Records to watch, I saved it for last. Well, I’m off. And comments are appreciated!

Word to the Bachelor

So I was very disappointed when I watched The Bachelor last night. They could have taken out the part where they spend 30 minutes talking about the four guys who were almost the bachelor, and then maybe the girls could have met Andrew like… say… in the first episode? I was angry when the first limo pulled up and then it cuts to “This season on the Bachelor….” Maybe, maybe, next week we’ll get to see the first rose ceremony. If we’re lucky.

Movies…. I did end up renting some, even some of your suggestions. Well, I think maybe one was, but that’s not the point. Anyhoo, I rented Great Expectations, Roman Holiday, Empire Records, An Affair to Remember, and I borrowed Swimfan and Abandon from a friend who had already rented them. I’ll post some reviews on Saturday. I still have Abandon, Roman Holiday, and Empire Records to watch.

Word to the Predators

I went to the Predators game tonight. The tied with the Flyers 1-1, but I was mostly there to watch my future husband, Adam Hall. And trust me, the picture on the site is not the best one. He’s a billion times cuter in the little pamplet I got at the game, so I’m assuming he looks more like the picture in there. Hahaha. But they kept putting him back in and taking him out and back in and then out, and my father kept joking that he had the most times in-and-out of the game. And I just kept my eyes on him the whole time, and my dad was like “Emma, the puck’s over there…” Like I care about the stupid puck.

I managed to stay up late enough for Mandy Moore on Craig Kilborn. She was just awesome. I can’t wait for her new album “Coverage” to come out. And it’s going to be all cover songs recorded with a garage band, which sounds awesome. She performed XTC’s Senses Working Overtime last night and did a great job. And I loved when Craig and Eric Close were talking about Andy Roddick yelling at the tennis judges and stuff and Eric said “Where are the McEnroes of the world?” Oh, and Eric was great last night as well. Love him on Without A Trace.

Word to the Oscars

The Oscars. Well, well, well. As a general statement, I was a little annoyed that everyone that won felt they had to give their two cents about the war. I think the evening (and most of it was) should have been more focused on celebrating the movies, instead of the war. Sure a nice word or two would have been fine… but Michael Moore, that was not the place nor the time.

But seeing as I had not seen any of the nominated movies, I focused more on the fashion. Some of my picks for the best dressed were Marcia Gay Harden, Julianne Moore, Rob Marshall, Hilary Swank, Salma Hayek, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez (who managed to look like classy Jennifer Lopez, and not like the skank J.HO), and Kate Hudson.

Also of note, Meryl Streep made a great improvement from her Golden Globes outfit (ick). Renee Zellweger, on the contrary, looked a lot better at the Golden Globes. Catherine Zeta-Jones looked fabulous for being 8 months pregnant. I’m also very happy that she won. Mira Sorvino is probably on the top of my list for best dressed. She wore a classy dress. She had classy hair. She had classy makeup. She just plain looked classy.

I really, really wanted Julianne Moore to win. But better Nicole than Renee. I think Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger are probably my two least favorite actresses of all time. Maybe I just haven’t seen the right movies with them.

On a final note, Jennifer Garner- hon, the whole point of a dress is to be inside it.

Word to View from the Top

I went and saw View from the Top with my friend Kelly today after bowling league. And I bowled terrible this week, by the way. But getting back to the movie… here’s a little review.

I would definetely recommend you see it. It’s definetely made of a better substance than most of the other movies that are out now. My general impression of it was “cute.”

It was not as funny as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty funny, but there were no go-and-tell-all-your-friends-hahahaha jokes other than the ones already in the commercials. But the overall concept was pretty funny in itself, so that made up for it.

I was amazed to see certain people in the movie. I had only thought it was Gwyneth, Christina Applegate, Kelly Preston, Mike Myers, and Candice Bergen. I was delighted to see the likes of Stacey Dash (from Clueless), Rob Lowe, Marc Blucas (from Buffy), and Concetta Tomei (from Providence). Even the adorable Jessica Capshaw, stepdaughter to Steven Spielberg and regular on The Practice, made a little cameo.

But out of the all of the amazing cast, I was most surprised to see Joshua Malina playing a gay flight attendant. You may know Josh from The West Wing or Sports Night or any other Aaron Sorkin projects as he has been in all of them. He did a fine job with his character, but it was something completely different from what he’s done in the past. I know some Malina fans might not appreciate his role because it was a little cheesy, but I was happy to see him in the movie nonetheless.

Well, hope I didn’t bore you all too much with my movie review. And please continue to suggest movie rentals to me in the comments. And considering that I am only 15, please try to stray from recommending rated R movies as my mother would not permit me to watch them.

Word to Spring Break

I closed Neon yesterday. Among other reasons, it was just time to. I added members to Turn Me On and More Hunk. My next update will be to Crush, and then I get working some more on The Buffy Bash.

So it’s Spring Break now. And I’ve been thinking long and hard about stuff I could do over this fabulous week. You know, apart from sleeping and updating my sites. I’ve decided that I’m going to catch up on my movie viewage, but strictly in a Blockbuster capacity. So if you know of any great rentals that I probably haven’t seen, let me know in the comments. I’m specifically looking for some good early to mid 90′s flicks, but any movie era would suffice.

Word to… well… nothing deserves a nodd

This may be the most insensitive view anyone could take on this whole war thing, but I was really, really looking forward to watching Sorority Life and Fraternity Life tonight. And then we had to attack Iraq. Grrr. Isn’t one of the reasons we’re going to war is to protect out freedoms, i.e. freedom of choice? I choose to watch crappy MTV reality television. If I can’t watch college men and women degrade theirselves on national television for my entertainment, then the terrorists really have won.

Okay, I guess that was pretty insensitive. But I’m not political active, nor do I ever plan on being so. Comedy always seems to be my solution. And this time is no different.

The entire 10th grade as well as myself went to see The Taming of the Shrew today in Nashville. And the guy that played Pertruchio was wearing a lot of eyeliner. I think he was wearing more makeup than all the girls put together. And they took the play and set it in the 50′s, and it was the most obnoxious thing I ever saw.

You know who rules? Phantom Planet. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Phantom Planet rules.

Word to Sleep

I got back from Chicago last night at 11. I was exhausted, and I had to go to school today. It wasn’t a particular hard day or anything, I just could have done without it. And I could really do without going to school tomorrow. But thank the good Lord that my spring break is coming next week. Haleluiah.

So my trip was… ehhh. The Sears Tower didn’t really hold my interest. And I really did think it would be taller. It just didn’t look that tall. But it was very Ferris Bueller. We also went to the art museum and looked at the same paintings that they did in the movie, which was cool. And I saw this one piece that was just a block of wood painted black. Thought it was the coolest thing ever. Well not really, but it’s cool that they have just a black piece of wood hanging in the art museum.

On Saturday night we went to see the Chicago Symphony. The music could have been better. It was very good, but it didn’t really grab you. There was no climax. But the conductor was very into it, and he had this great haircut, and everytime he moved it would fall perfectly back into place. I think he was using magnets, but that’s just a suspicion.

I added 2 new wallpapers to Under My Thumb. And did I mention how much I love sleep now? Sleep is my best friend. I should probably go get some more. Sounds good.

Word to leaving

It’s 73 degrees here. It felt like summer today. My brother took my younger sister and I for ice cream this afternoon, which seemed to be the popular thing to do. We didn’t have to really wait or anything, but there was a good turnout at the local Baskin Robins.

I’m leaving tomorrow for Chicago. I’ve done some packing, but I can’t get myself to finish. I can’t get myself to do much of anything at the moment aside from napping or browsing the internet. Hopefully when I go shopping with my mother later I’ll be inspired to finish and maybe I’ll even get to bed a little early…. maybe.

So I’m trying to recreate the Donnie Darko Soundtrack, because I don’t really have any money to buy it, plus if I make it myself, I can include all the songs they left out. And I have them all downloaded except for one. One. All I am missing is track number 3. It’s taking for.ev.er to download and I’m getting really frustrated. Grrrrr.

Well, I’m off to attempt being productive. I won’t blog again until maybe next Monday because of the trip. So leave me lots of comments and tell me how much you love me…. just kidding.
