Word to your mother

A listy entry.
1. I bowled a 192 on Tuesday.
2. Bob picked Estella. Yay.
3. I’m applying for a job at the Pottery Barn!
4. Is it bad that I think Jessica Simpson sings well?
5. Is it bad that the only Christmas album I own is 98 degrees’ This Gift?
6. I think I’m going into Newlyweds withdrawal.
7. I appeared in court on Wednesday, and the judge looked like a young John C. Calhoun. I wonder if he’s married to a girl named Fluoride.
8. This holiday season feels empty without a new Harry Potter movie.
9. Sarkishot is hot.
10. I can’t stop making wallpapers.
11. I saw Shattered Glass today. Excellent film. But I do have to say that Peter Sarsgaard completely out-acted Hayden Christensen.

Word to confusing movie titles

Is it just me, or are the upcoming Oscar-worthy films just all kind of blending together? They all star some Ocar-winning or Oscar-nominated actress\actor and are set against dreary scenery and are not really apealing to the feel-good part of my brain. Cold Mountain. The Missing. Cold Creek Manor. House of Sand and Fog. The Human Stain. Gothika. Honestly, what’s the difference? The only movie that I can make out from all the haze is Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World, and that’s only because of its obnoxiously long title. Most of these films will end up with an R rating, and I won’t get to see them in theaters anyways. But still, the advertisers need to step it up if they want to distinguish their movie from the others.

In non-movie news, I posted a little blip about this week’s Gilmore Girls at Take the Deviled Eggs. I also added not 1, not 2, but THREE Sarkishot related wallpapers at Under My Thumb.

Word to Day

Howie Day. Ohmygosh. Howie Day. Best night. Ever.

Matt Nathanson started out the night as the opening act. He was very tall, very cute, and very funny. Then Howie came on stage. Lalalalalalaallalalalallahowie. He was amazing. I thought that he wouldn’t play the pedals because he brought a band with him, but he did, and it was awesome. I really wanted him to play the song “So Fucking Sweet” and I yelled for him to play it a couple of times to no avail. But oh well. Gotta follow the setlist I guess. Speaking of which, Howie played every last song off Stop All the World Now plus Sorry So Sorry, Secret, Morning After, and Madrigals. I’m very disappointed that he didn’t play Slow Down, Everything Else, or Lick My Lips. But the amazing Howie-ness more than made up for it.

Post-concert my sister and I talked to the adorable Matt Nathanson. I asked if I could give him a hug. And he said, “sure, just let me put the cap back on this sharpie so I don’t ink you.” Matt was totally awesome to all his fans, and so so so cute. Howie Day on the other hand was a bit stand-offish about coming out and signing autographs. But I do believe that he was amused when I asked him whether “I’ll Take You On” was in a time signature of 3\4 or a slow 4\4. He scruffily replied, “I think it’s in 6/8.” He then turned to his drummer to confirm. Howie’s drummer concurred. Then I asked Howie if I could give him a hug. I did so, and some people laughed, but hey! I got to touch Howie. Then my sister and I scurried along to the car, big smiles on our faces. Awesomeness.

Word to Christmas

Today was the first really cold day in November. And I could smell it. You know… Christmas. It put a huge smile on my face. And after marching in a Christmas parade earlier this evening, I definetely have the holiday spirit. Now all I need is Coke to start airing the “santa packs are comin’” commercials, and December 25 will sure be on its way.

As for The Bachelor, I think sending Mary home was completely the right thing to do. They kind of implied in this episode that she was saving herself for marriage, yet she dresses like a complete ho, just like the rest of the girls. Plus, this will totally make Bob’s final decision ten times easier. Kelly Jo! Also, I think it’s a bit strange that the fathers of the girls that are left are both deceased. Maybe Bob just wanted to avoid father-in-law issues.
