So I was thinking the other day how Alias is really just a dumbed-down version of 24. And no matter how hard you Alias fans will argue against me, it really is, and especially this past season of Alias which has done nothing innovative with the storyline and has transformed into little more than a superficial ratings magnet. But the one thing about the show that has remained authentic throughout the season and all seasons past, is the character Jack Bristow. I was thinking to myself how awesome and badass Jack is. Then I realized that I could be talking about both Jack Bristow and my other favorite Jack… Jack Bauer. And oh boy, there are some shocking similarities.

Jack Bauer, 24 |
Jack Bristow, Alias |
So who is the better Jack B, you might ask? Oh please, don’t ask me to choose. Alright, I’d probably have to say Jack Bauer because the rest of his supporting cast is actually good and his show is more intelligent than Bristow’s.
I agree. Even though “Alias” is a highly addictive show (at least until the end of season 3. I haven’t seen any season 4 episodes), it’s quite obvious that JJ Abrams is using the cheapest tricks to keep viewers interested. Jack Bristow’s the coolest damn character in the show!
You fucking rule for this. I heart both Jacks. But yeah, Alias = dumbed-down version of 24.
indeed. i’ve been saying this for years. not really. but i totally agree. i’m already bored of the prettiness and flashiness of alias, whereas 24 is still captivating. and dude, mr bristow just can’t compete with ‘the man with the velvet whisper’…
Bwahahaha, your comparison is so awesome. If I *HAD* to choose my favorite Jack, it would definitely be Bauer. Only because of his sexy, velvet-like voice. Mmmm.
Both Jacks are also played by Canadians (or half Canadians…) Anyway, there is an article about Kiefer in the Canadian TV times. Part of it is up here: http://www.canada.com/entertainment/television/tvtimes.html

Understatement of the year.
