Every night is a Saturday night

Summer is almost here.  Well, for me summer will begin about a week from now.  I think the best way to approach summer is to have a game plan, and here’s mine:

  1. Work some, but not as much as last summer.
  2. Let myself sleep in more, but only a little bit.
  3. Get up to movie 60 in my 100 movies in 2007.
  4. Go outside more so I don’t get rickets like Dad says I’m going to.
  5. Visit Lincoln’s birthplace.
  6. Kick my candy addiction (may not happen, but I’m going to try).
  7. Visit the Ave Maria Grotto.
  8. See Harry Potter.
  9. Read Harry Potter.
  10. Eat out less.

I think that’s a good start.  I actually can stand to wait this week for summer to begin.  It’s really been nice having a place of my own this year… somewhat.  It’s just a single dorm room but I really enjoyed the independence.  However, I have missed my mommy!

100 Movies in 2007: Glengarry Glen Ross

Glengarry Glen RossOh man.  I never want to work in sales.  I also never want to work for Alec Baldwin, even from the 10 minutes appearance he makes in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Everyone in this movie did a standup acting job.  But you know who surprised me the most?  Jack Lemmon.  I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for this role.  It was also nice to see Alan Arkin but they didn’t let him do much.

While I did enjoy this movie, it was not at all what I was expecting, especially because it took place over the course of just a day and half or so.

100 Movies in 2007: Blades of Glory

Blades of GloryI’m sure you’ve all seen Blades of Glory by now, but I definitely recommend going to see it if you haven’t.

It’s not better than Anchorman. And I haven’t seen Ricky Bobby since I saw it in theaters, but I remember it being a bit funnier than Blades of Glory. HOWEVER, there are some truly priceless moments. And Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, and Craig T. Nelson almost take the movie away from Will Ferrell… but in a good way.

Also… how is it that Bill Fichtner is great at almost everything he does? He’s like a less famous, younger (and albeit lesser) Christopher Walken. I honestly don’t know how well Prison Break would have done this season without him.

100 Movies in 2007: Reign Over Me

Reign Over MeI cried at Reign Over Me.

Yeah, I cry at movies now. Just like my mom. Everyday I’m becoming more and more like my mother.

The Adam Sandler role was originally written for Tom Cruise. I don’t think Tom Cruise could have done this movie. I wouldn’t have cried with Tom Cruise.

I think Mike Binder did an excellent job with this movie, but he should try to be more objective when he steps in front of the camera. I guess it’s his movie and he can do what he wants, but someone else could have played his role.

Overall, it was just touching.  I have a small hope that it will be remembered come award season.  It’s highly unlikely, but if Seabiscuit can do it, Reign Over Me can.

100 Movies in 2007: The Way We Live Now

The Way We Live NowAlright, so I’m a sucker for anything BBC. The Way We Live Now is probably no exception.

I’ll also admit that I rented this because Matthew MacFadyen is in it. He’s dreamy. And I actually liked him as a slimeball in this movie. Until now I had only seen him in roles where he’s an upstanding kind of guy.

This had an interesting supporting cast–most notabley Cillian Murphy and Miranda Otto.

And I’ve now decided that I’m going to get investors to back me in building a railroad, then just pretending I’m building it. Apparently it’s a really good financial move.

I miss winter

I’m kind of sad that it’s spring now.  I heart winter.

But you know what else makes me sad?  When it’s 80-85 degrees the whole week and then one day it’s 30-40 degrees.  Because I have a cold now.

*sniffle*
