First Thanksgiving Away

This year marked my first Thanksgiving that was not spent at home with my family.  I was working.  I wish I could have been home.  I want one of those jobs where the office is always closed on holidays.

Talking Doll

P1010590

If they made a talking doll version of my boyfriend, it would repeat phrases like:

  • “Emma, you’d better not put that picture online.”
  • “There’s no time for cuddling!”
  • “Should I make french fries with this?”

What would your special man-friend or lady-friend say?

Color challenged

Do you know what is my hardest challenge with shopping?  Choosing a color of an article of clothing that comes in many man colors.

Some of my problem comes from my hair.  I have a slight red tinge to my hair, which has gotten even redder this summer, making it near impossible for me to pull off pink clothing.  It has to be just the right shade of pink, which is terribly hard to find.

I used to have a very simple answer to the color question:  black!  In fact, me and my sister Maura used to only get things in black back in the day.  Then we pressured each other to branch out, sometimes to gray, but mostly to navy.  I really like navy, but then you come across the dilemma that you can’t wear navy with dark jeans because then you’re all dark.

I often regret color decisions that I make with clothes, and also spend time agonizing over which color to choose beforehand.  I tell myself to not pick the same colors all the time, and then I branch out to a different color and sometimes it was a mistake.

This problem goes hand-in-hand with my allergy to making decisions.

Cutting Back

Things I need that require an outlay of money, and therefore I don’t need them:

  • haircut – last one was in May
  • oil change – last one was in May yikes!
  • gym membership
  • stretchy pants to lounge in
  • turtlenecks for winter

'Tis the season

‘Tis the season!  And all you naysayers who say “nay” and declare that Christmas celebrating should not take place before December, well I am a naysayer on you and say “nay” to that and will continue spreading Christmas cheer for a full 2 months beforehand.

Enjoy the redcups at Starbucks.  Smell the cold in the air.  Wear a peacoat.  Put up twinkle lights.  CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

I won't do this job forever

Something they don’t tell you about working night audit when you sign up– when everyone is enjoying an extra hour of sleep during daylight savings time, you’re having to do an extra hour of work.
