'Tis the season
‘Tis the season! And all you naysayers who say “nay” and declare that Christmas celebrating should not take place before December, well I am a naysayer on you and say “nay” to that and will continue spreading Christmas cheer for a full 2 months beforehand.
Enjoy the redcups at Starbucks. Smell the cold in the air. Wear a peacoat. Put up twinkle lights. CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Oh, what a lovely Christmas!
I had a wonderful Christmas. My most favorite gift is my new pair of Nashville Predators pajama pants.
I haven’t been posting here often because I have been incredibly busy planning this. If you happen to be in the Knoxville area for New Year’s Eve, please come by and see what I have worked so hard on. I have 4 more days of very hard work before this happens, and I’m just taking a deep Yuletide breath before I finish.
Also, I graduated college two weeks ago. I don’t really know what I am doing with my life once I am done with this job next month, and that’s okay.
Oh yeah! That's right.
I have found myself quite preoccupied as of late. But today I had quite a few moments where I was able to snap out of it and get back to the little things that make me… me!
- At a restaurant for lunch, I remembered that I have a lot of wonderful friends and while keeping up with them is hard, it is not to be skipped over.
- At the gym, I remembered what it was like to love exercising, especially how I feel afterwards.
- At Target, I remembered how much I love Christmas time as I browsed the cards, stockings, and lights.
- At home, I remembered that I was a girl and painted my nails.
- On the internet, I remembered how much I love Ryan Adams as I listened to his new album– Cardinology.
Now over the next week I hope I can snap myself out of it long enough to remember that I am graduating in December and should be looking for jobs. Oh economy, please recover so that I may be gainfully employed.
Get elated
Things that make my happy today:
1. Someone picked up my shift next Thursday night, which means I can go home a day earlier than expected. I’m going to surprise those crazy parents of mine! Unless they read this. Oops.
2. I completely forgot about the due date for an assignment in Finance, but my teacher is letting me submit it late.
3. This weekend will be comprised of doing a whole lot of nothing. I’m looking forward to it.
4. I’ve been catching up on Gossip Girl. Shut up, it’s pretty!
5. I turned in a 12-page paper today. Take that, employment law!
6. You guys, it’s almost Christmas!

30 days and counting
Thanksgiving this year… in a word? Deep-fried.
Circuit City on Black Friday… in a word? Frustrating.
Predators beating the Red Wings… in a word? Satisfying.
Delusional
Dear Santa,
If it’s not too much trouble could you procure me one of these for Christmas?
I mean, I’m giving you enough time don’t you think? It’s not like those last minute presents I used to bother you about on the 23rd of December, or Christmas Eve for that matter.
No? Okay, I’ll think of something else.
Love,
Emma
P.S. You never gave me a Barbie Jeep and I’m scarred for life. YOU REMEMBER THAT!

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Hey look everyone, it’s Halloween. You know what’s the best part of Halloween? The day after. Yeah, that’s right. Living it up on November 1st. November 1st is the glorious day where you get to run to Target and buy lots and lots of candy for half off. Yeah, I love candy and I have some food issues, but at least I can admit it.
November 1st is also the day where it’s only 3/4ths as socially unacceptable to be listening to Christmas music as it was the day before. 1/4th more socially acceptable… I’ll take that! Bring on The Carpenter’s Christmas Portrait!
Despite my desire for Halloween to be over, I hope you all have a great one. Don’t dress too slutty!

Time for a carol
I listened to Christmas music last night. Do you think there’s some kind of support group out there I could join? I just want to put up decorations, wear my black peacoat, and not be sweating every time I go to class. Is that so wrong?
I think my aversion to heat, sunlight, and summer has increased with the recent failure of the air conditioning system in my car. But that does make a great excuse to get people to drive me everywhere, since none of my friends feel like sweating it out in the passenger seat. Hey, I’m just excited I have power steering again! But I do seem to be losing some muscle in my arms…
Word to My Job
Things that are completely awesome about my sweet little on-campus job:
- It’s on campus.
- It’s sweet.
- And I redesigned this site on the clock.
Also, I like getting paid. It’s paychecks from this lovely just-show-up-and-browse-the-internet-job that made it possible for me to purchase a new digital camera on Black Friday. Hopefully I’ll stop being lazy and post some pictures that I’ve taken with the new camera.
Both my parents seemed a bit surprised that I purchased a digital camera for myself without first asking for it for Christmas, as I am now known for avoiding the expenditure of my personal funds at pretty much all costs (ha- how oxymoronic!). Don’t worry Santa, there’s still plenty of gifts out there for you to purchase for me, or have your elfs make in the workshop. They should start whittling out a 24 Day 5 DVD box set while I’m on the subject. I also have my heart set on a Nike Sport Kit and possibly some better running shoes to go with it, but you’ll be hearing from me.
