The End of a Very Good Week

I finished I’m sitting here at the end of a very good week.  I’m tired from going to New York City yesterday, but energized about everything good that’s happening.

I started the week with my first “big” run.  I competed in a 10K rate (6.2 miles), and finished in 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 41 seconds.  This was a better time than I had anticipated, and I could not have been happier.

While running, especially during the 4th mile, I was thinking “I can’t wait for this to be over.”  But then once I finished I immediately thought “when can I do that again?”  Must be that runner’s high!

I have a lot to do in April.  I hope April is ready.

Time for another cup of coffee.

If it comes in Susan G. Komen pink, I'm buying it

Locked down with Susan G.

I never thought I’d be one of those people who have lockers at the gym.  But the immense constraints of my time have forced me into it, and it’s not as bad as I thought.  I think the part that terrified me the most was getting changed in front of other people, but that doesn’t bother me anymore.

It might help that practically everyone that goes to my gym is 40 or up.  And sometimes they wear jeans.

Good try, Tide

I have to take a minute to talk about how preposterous this new detergent from Tide is.  It’s called Tide Febreze Sport.  Since when did my workout clothes need special detergent?

The advertisements are trying to tell you that you need to get your workout clothes smelling extra fresh because you sweat in them.  But that’s exactly the reason you do not need them to be extra fresh– you’re just going to sweat in them after you wash them!  Sure, no one wants to have smelly workout clothes sitting inside the dresser stinking up the other clothes, but do you need an extra special detergent?  No, my regular one will do just fine.

Good try, Tide!

A regular Forrest Gump

I ran 21 miles last week.

Before last week I hadn’t run in quite a while.  I’d been working out, but only the elliptical.

If you have the Nike + kit, you and me need to compete PRONTO!

Every Mile a Memory

We're streetSo I know you’re all hanging on the edge of your seats wondering about the results of my 5K. I’m still think there’s more of a discrepancy between my gun time and my chip time than the official results show. I crossed the finish line at 35:11, but did not cross the starting line until a full 3 minutes after the gun time. But the results say my chip time as 33:30ish. I’m going to maintain that I finished this race in 32 minutes, and I don’t care who knows that might be false.

I also had to stop during the first mile to tie my shoe. My shoes always seem to come undone at this race in particular. I guess it’s becoming somewhat of a tradition. Mi hermano told me that I should look into getting velcro shoes. Pshaw! Maybe I could get some custom ones that also light up everytime your feet hit the ground. That would be sweet.
